I’m a big fan of a can-do, learning-oriented do-it-yourself attitude. A positive attitude, willingness to fail, and being open to learning is not always tenable, but it can save a lot of money in your own home! I’ve been fixing my own appliances, tightening decades-old doorknobs, replacing electrical boxes, and landscaping for well over a decade now.
Probably the most important part of DIY is knowing when to call a professional. It’s not admitting defeat, and it’s knowing I want it done right and to humility to know I cannot do it myself.
Having a friend or handyperson helps a lot, though!
